It's an exciting time to be embarking on this type of project because the sky is the limit when it comes to the possibilities. Custom cabinetry is the best way to make your outdoor kitchen a reflection of your style and personality. Are you an organized and functional person? Add drawers and inserts inside your cabinets to bring the functionality of an indoor kitchen, outside. Are you fun and maybe a little wild? Have fun with the colours of your cabinetry. You don't have to stick to the stainless doors we are accustomed to thinking about when we picture Outdoor Kitchens. You can choose just about any colour in the rainbow, this client above, chose a beautiful red finish and notice that by choosing custom, even the vent for the refrigeration unit was powder coated the same colour as the cabinetry. You may be wild on the inside but you like to have a calm demeaner in your daily life. Showcase this by using a more neutral colour on the exterior of your cabinetry but then choose a bright yellow or electric blue interior. That way every time you open a door that wild side comes shining through.

If indoor kitchens are the heart of the home (and they are), your outdoor kitchen will soon be the heart of your backyard. If the space allows for a nice table and eating area, this would be great, but many times your guests will do what they do inside your kitchen, migrate around the island and cooking space to see what you've got going on and be part of the action. Island seating is a great opportunity for you to give them comfortable seating but is also a kind way of suggesting that they stop hovering over you and your grill. Another luxurious option, depending on the space in your backyard and the skill of your landscape architect and team, you could consider incorporating a swim up bar from your pool to your outdoor kitchen countertop! Truly the possibilities are endless if your space and budget allow.

We love incorporating rolling cabinetry into Outdoor Kitchen designs. It allows for the flexibility and versatility of the space to grow as needed. This particular piece showcased above acts as a work area and can be stored against the wall but when you are ready to eat, you can roll this unit into the center of the room and the back flips up to make a seated table area for you to enjoy the meal you just prepared.
