This weekend we have been spending a lot of time reminiscing about the last 20 years and discussing where we see ourselves over the next 20. We all know it won't include mom retiring!
We've been saying for years that we're going to get better at "blogging" consistently, so we thought today would be a great day to chat about some of the things we've been remembering.
Then and Now:
Do you remember our showroom, with the green awning and the white pillar?
We absolutely love our job. Neither mom or I could imagine our lives doing anything else and being this happy. We've got super clients and a stellar group of trades in every city we work.
We don't do anything with the intention of being recognized or thanked, but when we are, it sure is a nice feeling. We were remembering quite a few years ago when the publisher of a well-known Kitchen and Bath book out of California called us and asked us to write articles for them. We had only written little one page articles up to that point for local magazines, but we (timidly) agreed to write one 2,500 word article for them. We actually really enjoyed it and that lead to a couple more large articles. It is such a neat feeling to know that people all over North America have read your thoughts about your industry and are benefiting from what you had to say. Below is part of the cover of one of the articles. I guess that's the same idea with a blog and social media. I'll try to post them in future posts. Stay tuned :)
We've really spent a lot of time getting a decent presence on social media over the years. We are excited about becoming even more active now that we are getting our head around all of the different platforms. We want to thank all of our loyal followers across Facebook, LinkedIN, Instagram, Houzz, Pinterest, Google+, Twitter and YouTube. If you aren't already following us, you can find our links at the bottom of this page! Again, we appreciate all of your support.
I would have to say the most eye-opening thing about how powerful social media is for us is Pinterest. Every time we get a notification of our pictures being repinned we know someone is using that for inspiration! That's pretty cool! This picture below has been our biggest hit so far! We now have over 350 repins of just that one photo, and the vast majority of those are by people we aren't even connected with! Thank YOU!
We are loving how engaged you are starting to become across our social platforms. In the comments section below we would love to hear which platform you use most and what types of posts you would like to see more of!
One of the most exciting things to happen to our business was five years ago when our main supplier announced that they re-tooled their entire finishing line to offer the most healthy, non-toxic cabinets available. We have always been proud to sell our clients such a fabulous product, but now to be able to add healthy living to the durability and beauty, that's a great feeling. The more we learn about how harmful the toxins are that off-gas from cabinets, the happier we are that we've remained with the same company all of these years and that they keep improving and advancing right along side of us.
There are so many people in need in this world, we wish we could help everyone! It was really good for the soul this weekend to think back to all of the organizations we've helped throughout the years: the walk-a-thons we've walked, reading Rally's we've run, BBQ's we've worked ect. Every picture we found filled our hearts with such joy. Below are just a few. I'm not sure there is a better feeling in the world than to know you're making a difference. No matter how small or insignificant it may seem to you, please know that your time and thoughtfulness means the world to the person on the receiving end.
Our goal is to get a non-toxic kitchen in every home that's being renovated or built in every city we work. With the rise of Asthma and all the other breathing related issues, not to mention the illnesses that are caused by carcinogens and these toxic fumes, it is vitally important for us to reduce our toxin intake. We have a great opportunity with our cabinets to really help people when they are renovating or building to reduce these VOCs and toxins in their homes. We know that social media will help educate people of the importance of making healthy decisions with all of their purchases. We would love for you to help us reach this goal by sharing this with your circle or when you hear of someone that is looking to build a new home or renovate their existing home. They will thank you. Let's all encourage everyone to think: Green, Environmentally-Friendly, Non-Toxic & Healthy.
We hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as we've enjoyed writing it. We'd love to hear any memories you have about The Cabinet Studio. You can post them in the comments section below or join the people that are already sharing on social media. (See links in the footer at the bottom of this page). In the meantime we hope you have a healthy day and happy St. Pats!
Thank you one last time for your support and interest in what we are up to.
We sincerely appreciate it!
